Version Control

Connect a workspace to a repository so Work, Architecture, compliance, and review requests operate on real Git branches and commits.

Infracodebase supports GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, and Azure DevOps. An enterprise administrator must connect the provider under Settings, Version control before a workspace can use its repositories. See the enterprise version control guide for provider setup.

Create a repository-backed workspace

From the Workspaces page, choose New Workspace and select a connected provider. You can create a workspace from an existing repository or create a new repository where the provider supports it.

Infracodebase reads the selected repository and branch, links them to the workspace, and uses the provider as the source of truth. An empty repository is initialized with the files needed to establish its first branch.

Connect an existing workspace

If a local workspace is not connected yet, use the repository action in the code editor or open enterprise version control settings. Choose the provider connection, repository, and branch.

After connection, remote commits and workspace commits synchronize through Git. Webhooks keep repository state, review state, and compliance activity current.

Branches and Work

Work starts from the connected repository and creates a dedicated remote branch for a change. Each later request continues from the latest saved checkpoint on that branch.

Architecture can open diagrams from any available remote branch. Saving from the default branch creates a feature branch instead of writing to the default branch directly.

Review requests

Work and the code editor can open a draft review request for the current feature branch. The provider determines whether it calls that object a pull request or merge request. Infracodebase keeps the review link and state with the Work conversation.

Disconnecting

Disconnecting stops synchronization but does not delete repository content or workspace history. Reconnect through enterprise version control settings when you are ready to restore the link.
